Chinese Mobile Cranes Review

Posted on

When you hear of Chinese products, most people think of computers, mobile phones, electronic equipment and home appliances. Known to few, however, is that Australia imports most of its heavy construction equipment from China. The most prominent of these are mobile cranes and earth moving equipment. The increase of this heavy machinery has caused many to ask, "How safe are these pieces of equipment?" and "Are they better than Japanese and German products?" Here are answers to these questions.

Prominent Products

According to Cranes Today Magazine, the Chinese crane manufacturing industry is the largest in the world, producing over 35,000 units a year. This growth has been fueled by domestic demand, government incentives and the ability to produce at lower cost. The magazine further cites Zoomlion, XCMG, Sany and Anhui Liugong as the leading players in the Chinese mobile crane industry.

Cost

According to Construction Weekly, a new mobile crane from China costs almost the same as a second-hand European brand. This price point is attractive to many Australian customers, especially at a time when the economy is gloomy. The payment can be spread over a three-year period. The cranes are also available for hire, eliminating the need for high capital investments.

Warranty and Service

Chinese companies usually produce different grade machines depending on the customer's price preferences. Many who buy the low-cost ones are more likely to experience technical breakdown than the higher cost options. Despite this challenge, Chinese brands have an extensive network of agents that provide a warranty and service to their customers. The spare parts are also readily available.

Reliability

Chinese products have previously been termed as unreliable clones of their western peers. But years of experience producing parts for European, American and Japanese brands have gained Chinese manufacturers the necessary capacity and know-how to build mobile cranes. Advances in technology have also rendered some Chinese brands superior to their global counterparts. This reliability is gaining recognition, and more Australian customers are adopting their products

Lifespan

With proper care and service, Chinese cranes are expected to last as long as other leading global brands. This aspect has fueled the market for second-hand cranes that are supposed to perform the work albeit with more service than new ones.

The Chinese manufacturing sector has reformed in recent years. Construction Weekly touts their products to be as good, if not better than traditional brands. The growing Chinese construction industry presented a market for heavy construction equipment. Mobile cranes were produced in large numbers, and the excess production is exported to other nations.
